Description

The notable characteristics of this City Roast (light medium roast) Fully-Washed Java are its inherent sweetness of dark honey and molasses notes with a faint hinting of raisin and blackberry in the finish.  Upon grinding this coffee, the nose may remind you of molasses sugar cookies.  In the cup, the acidity is low while the body is moderate and very smooth.

This coffee has come to us as part of the “Soil to Roaster” project of Sriwijaya Coffee.  The coffees brought to roasters through this program are part of an effort to represent small-scale farmers and portions of profits, above and beyond purchase price of the beans from the farmers, goes back to the contributing farm community.

Limited offering as we only procured 1 sack.  When it’s gone, it’s gone!

I just received my shipment of Java “Siliwangi” and immediately brewed up a cup in my CHEMEX.

I am very impressed. It does have a sweet taste but not overly so. It is a very smooth coffee and the acidity, as you state in the description, is very low. The more I drank, the better it tastes! I am guessing that as the coffee cools somewhat, the flavor profile changes. It certainly becomes more complex. I really like it!

You state that the coffee is part of the “Soil to Roaster” project of Sriwijaya Coffee and that you only got one bag. I would encourage you to make this a regular offering (if supply could allow). It really is that good! I also like the fact that some of the proceeds can go directly to the grower community, as they are obviously doing a good job!
