Description
Roasted to medium, this coffee exhibits sweet peach and cocoa notes and produces a rich full-bodied cup when brewed hot. The vibrancy of flavor produced makes this an excellent coffee for single-origin cold brew or a great component for any of your blends for such. Flavor is well-balanced with a lingering note of cocoa.
Finca San Jose de las Nubes is approximately 190 hectares of land, with 70 hectares dedicated to growing coffee under shade. The name of the farm aptly describes the cloud forest environment enveloping the property. Producer Bayardo Reyes is a third-generation coffee grower and named the lot where this coffee was produced for his father, Don Mauricio, as he follows in his footsteps.
Las Nubes employs 30 year-round workers and runs a small school for local children, also offering night classes for adults. The farm provides school supplies for local children and supports a private clinic by contributing medical supplies and transportation. Meals served to workers are hearty and nutritious and always include meat or chicken. Solar and wind power provide the farm’s electricity and the farm uses a water treatment system. Hilda manages the farm and is one of few women to hold the position of farm manager as a full-time role, rather than as a family obligation. Finca Las Nubes values sustainability and transparency as crucial to coffee quality and uses coffee farming as a tool for affecting social impact.
